PMCCS-6 will be hosted at the Robert Allerton Park and Conference Center in Monticello, Illinois, USA, not far from the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The workshop will take place under the umbrella of the 2003 Illinois Multiconference on Measurement, Modelling, and Evaluation of Computer-Communication Systems. In addition to PMCCS-6, the multiconference will comprise the International Conference on the Numerical Solution of Markov Chains (NSMC'03), the 10th International Workshop on Petri Nets and Performance Models (PNPM '03), and Performance TOOLS 2003 (13th International Conference on Modelling Techniques and Tools for Computer Performance Evaluation). TOOLS, PNPM, and NSMC will take place on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The workshop focuses on the theory, techniques, and tools for integrated performance and dependability modeling, analysis, and evaluation, along with applications in the area of computer and communication systems. According to the traditions of the PMCCS series, the workshop will be characterized by open and intense discussions on various topics in performability modeling and analysis, based on recent work of the participants. The PMCCS series started in 1991 as a forum to gather researchers working in the emerging area of performability of computer and communication systems. The intent of the workshop was to favor an informal but deep exchange of new and in-progress work on the combined modeling and analysis of performance and dependability aspects of systems. Previous workshops in the series were held in:

Contributions are sought concerning all aspects of performability. Theoretical work as well as application-oriented work is welcome. Case studies of performability modeling and evaluation are solicited in the field of computer and communication systems as well as in related fields, like flexible manufacturing systems, product-in-process software development, medical systems, transportation systems, and complex infrastructures. No full papers will be required, with the aim of stimulating a free exchange of new ideas and recent results. Extended abstracts of up to 4 pages in double-column IEEE format are solicited from prospective speakers. The Workshop organizers will check whether the work is within the scope of the workshop. The deadline for the submission of the extended abstracts is June 9, 2003. Authors will be notified about acceptance by June 23, 2003. Extended abstracts should be submitted in PostScript (.ps) or Portable Document Format (.pdf, preferred) as e-mail attachments to: Daniel D. Deavours, University of Kansas (USA)

Authors of accepted extended abstracts will be asked to provide camera-ready versions in the prescribed double-column IEEE format. Authors retain copyright of their work, but will be asked to give workshop organizers permission to print the camera-ready contributions in a workshop booklet that will be distributed to all attendees and put on the web. You can download author guidelines and style files. Submission deadline for the Camera-ready copy is July 18, 2003. Note that the deadline cannot be extended. Camera-ready copies should be submitted in PostScript (.ps) or Portable Document Format (.pdf, preferred) as e-mail attachments to: Daniel D. Deavours, University of Kansas (USA)

PMCCS will be held on September 5-7, 2003 at the Robert Allerton Park and Conference Center in Monticello, Illinois (a short drive from Urbana-Champaign). ![]() Allerton Park, which was originally a private estate, consists of a magnificent 17th-century-style manor house with extensive formal gardens highlighted by over 120 sculptures, all situated in a large nature preserve on the Sangamon River. The estate was given to the University of Illinois in 1946 to be used as an educational and research center and as a forest, wildlife, and plant-life preserve. The park combines these features in a unique setting in rural Illinois. Allerton Park is conveniently located 26 miles (42 km) from Champaign. Sleeping accommodations will consist of charming rooms in the estate’s manor house and in lovely adjoining buildings formerly occupied by estate caretakers. Due to the limited number of rooms, some attendees may be asked to share rooms; organizers will try to accommodate requests. See the Multiconference transportation and accommodations page for more detail on getting there.
